Headache relief is the most searched article among many people. A Headache can be defined as aching in the head with the pain present above the eyes or the ears, behind the head or in the back of the upper neck. Headaches can vary from minor to severe or occasional to consistent.
 
Most of the people suffer from headache as it has become the most common health problem. Headaches can become intolerable for many people and can lead to migraine. Improper position of neck bone can cause headaches which sooner or later lead to migraine problem.

Most of the people suffer from headache as it has become the most common health problem. Headaches can become intolerable for many people and can lead to migraine. Improper position of neck bone can cause headaches which sooner or later lead to migraine problem.
 

The headaches have been put under two categories:-

 
• Primary headaches - Primary headaches are not the result of other diseases. Examples of primary headaches are migraine headaches, tension headaches, and cluster headaches.

1. Migraine –
Variation in muscular flow can be the reason for migraine. Migraines are also known as vascular headaches. When the blood vessels in the head gets expanded or swollen, then unbearable pain arises in the head. Women are the most suffered victims of migraines.
 
Migraine can be identified with the following characteristics:-

i. One-sided pain associated with nausea
ii. Moderate to severe pain
iii. Burning sensation
iv. Extreme light, sound, and touch sensitivity
v. Visual “aura”
 
2. Tension Headaches – It is the most common type of headache. It is normally referred as stress headaches. Tension headaches are triggered by tightened muscles in the back of the neck and scalp. This muscle tension could be the reason of:
 
i. Inadequate rest
ii. Poor posture
iii. Emotional or mental stress, including depression
iv. Anxiety
v. Fatigue
vi. Hunger
vii. Overexertion
 
3. Cluster Headaches – These are the most painful type of headache. It normally occurs on one side of head behind the eyes and is accompanied with very sharp and burning pain. The other symptoms include congestion, a teary eye and droopy eyelid. Cluster headaches are also caused by improper function of the body’s biological clock.

 

Cluster headaches have the following characteristics:

i. Pain near the forehead or around the eyes
ii. Excruciating pain
iii. Penetrating, non-throbbing pain
iv. A series of headaches
v. Watery, swollen eyes
 
These headaches occur mainly in men due to their habit of smoking and drinking.
 
• Secondary headaches – Secondary headaches are the indications of other problems. The secondary headaches can be due to:-
 

• Stroke
• Brain Tumor
• Subdural haemorrhage
• Epidural haemorrhage
• Parkinson’s Disease
• Severe Hypertension
• Infection
• Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
• Dehydration
